Survey reveals ‘truly terrible’ culture at Lloyd’s of London

Lloyd’s senior people are not taking responsibility and turning a blind eye to bad behaviour. Lloyds has been described as “the most archaic corner left in global finance”.

Sex discrimination is an issue that has always existed but it’s coming to the surface and employers ignore it at their peril.

The Government is consulting on proposals that could lead to obligations to train staff in a proactive move towards eliminating sexual harassment from the workplace. This already happens in the US. Employers should consider:

  • reviewing their policies,
  • providing regular training and
  • taking responsibility by dealing with complaints seriously.
