Redundancy and restructuring

There will be occasions when every business needs to do things a little differently. It may be that there are too many employees doing certain types of work, or a need to focus on different types of work. It may be that reshuffling the workforce is required or a change to terms and conditions is considered necessary.

Change is achievable but the way it is achieved will depend on the circumstances. It is always important to understand whether the change that is being proposed amounts to a redundancy exercise, where there are obligations to consult with representatives of the workforce and risks of unfair dismissal and discrimination that need to be avoided. Failing to operate within the boundaries of the law can be very costly.

In our experience employers often want to either shorten a process or ‘over cook’ it. Neither way is advisable. Our extensive knowledge in this area will enable you to operate efficiently and with confidence.
